Most sales people have experience with tangible products like homes, cars, and jewelry.  Tangible means you can see and touch the goods which you can’t do with insurance products.

These “sales people” make sales with lousy manipulative tactics they learned in “sales school” which is why “sales people” have a bad reputation. 

You’ve probably met these people in Texas.  They’re not too pleasant, are they?  They use price as leverage to make the sale and try to upsell additional products in the first meeting because they may never see you again.

The insurance sales industry is different because your service and products are intangible.

Let’s suppose you could build a machine that earned you $250,000 per year but you had to stand next to it 12 hours per day and push the buttons.

Now let’s suppose you could build a machine that earned you $1,000,000 and you only had to check on it 1 hour per day to make sure the gears are working. 

Which one would you build?

We both know the answer yet most people continue to build the first one with little thought to their long term future.  When it comes to an insurance sales job you have a decision to make. 

Do you want to keep all your “eggs in the same basket” and depend on only 1 income source?  Or do you want to build multiple machines that run on autopilot without YOU having to lay a finger? 

If you depend on just 1 relationship in Texas for 100% of your income and your manager decides he doesn’t like you then you lose all your income.  And what if your company goes bankrupt?  Again, all your income slips down the drain.

The ones that make it have a mountain of debt because they paid their employees even when they didn’t make a profit.
